i found this picture

October 27, 2010

And it made me smile 🙂

I remember that day. We had just sat down on a bench in Battery Park. After realizing the line to take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty was about 4 hours long.

We decided that wasn’t worth our time, that we could see it just fine from here, thank you very much.

It was a warm day. We had walked a long ways. But we were having fun.

It was on that bench we plotted out our course of action. Well, at least our next primary target. The Manhattan Heliport. As soon as I saw it on the map I knew that’s what I wanted to do – take a helicopter tour of the bay, fly by the Statue of Liberty, instead of taking a hot, crowded, smelly ferry ride after a 4 hour wait in line.

We sat for a while in the shade on that bench. We watched the fountains in front of us. We relaxed. And then we headed out on our next adventure.

I’m glad I found this picture because it brought that day back. It was a wonderful day. Made more wonderful by the fact that it was Mom and I together. We had a blast.

P.S. I’m sorry I just can’t seem to get past this NYC trip. I’m a little obsessed with how amazing it was. I need to take another trip soon. Before things get really bad 😉
